Health Disclaimer

V3 - 2026-05-12
Effective Date: May 12, 2026
Supersedes V2. Removed the reference to progress photos in the disordered-eating section because Refactor Fitness no longer offers a stored progress-photo feature.

Refactor Fitness is not a medical device, medical service, or medical app. Nothing in the app is medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The features, calculations, AI suggestions, and content are for general informational and personal tracking purposes only. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making changes to your diet, exercise, fasting, or supplement routine, and especially before relying on any number, recommendation, or AI output from this app.

Medical emergencies: If you are experiencing a medical emergency, stop using the app and call 911 (or your local emergency number) immediately. Do not rely on this app for emergency medical guidance.

1. Not Medical Advice

Refactor Fitness is a personal fitness and nutrition tracking tool operated by BOGERT CSN 443, LLC d/b/a Refactor Fitness. We are not a healthcare provider, doctor's office, hospital, clinical laboratory, registered dietitian's practice, or pharmacy. The calorie calculations, macro targets, BMR estimates, training-load metrics, AI suggestions, and other content provided by the app are general estimates based on commonly used formulas, public databases, and machine-learning outputs. They are not personalized medical, nutritional, or fitness advice and may be inaccurate or unsuitable for your individual circumstances. No physician-patient, dietitian-patient, or trainer-client relationship is created by your use of the Service.

2. Consult a Qualified Healthcare Professional

You should consult a qualified healthcare professional, physician, registered dietitian, or certified strength and conditioning specialist before:

  • Starting any new diet, nutrition, or supplement program.
  • Beginning or significantly changing an exercise routine, especially if you have been sedentary, are returning from injury, or have any chronic condition.
  • Starting any form of intermittent fasting, time-restricted eating, or extended fasting.
  • Setting aggressive calorie or macro targets, particularly large deficits or surpluses.
  • Making any dietary or training change if you have, or have ever had, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, kidney or liver disease, gallbladder issues, an eating disorder, an autoimmune condition, are pregnant, breastfeeding, peri- or post-menopausal, or are taking any prescription medication.

Diabetes, insulin, and blood-sugar medications

If you take insulin, sulfonylureas (such as glipizide, glyburide, glimepiride), meglitinides, or any other medication that lowers blood sugar, do not change your eating schedule, fasting window, or carbohydrate intake based on this app without first speaking to your prescribing physician or diabetes care team. Skipping meals, fasting, or significantly cutting carbohydrates while on these medications can cause severe hypoglycemia, which can be life-threatening. Refactor Fitness does not consider your medications when generating any recommendation.

3. Fasting Disclaimer

The fasting tracking feature is provided solely as a personal logging tool. The app does not prescribe fasting protocols, durations, or schedules. Intermittent fasting and extended fasting are not appropriate for everyone and can be dangerous for certain individuals, including but not limited to people who:

  • Are pregnant, attempting to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • Have, or have a history of, an eating disorder (anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, OSFED, ARFID).
  • Have diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2) or are taking blood-sugar medications.
  • Have a history of disordered eating, body dysmorphia, or rapid weight cycling.
  • Are under 18 or over 65.
  • Have low body weight, are underweight, or have any condition that requires consistent caloric intake.
  • Take any medication that requires food, including many cardiovascular and psychiatric medications.

Always consult your physician before beginning a fasting program. You use the fasting tracking feature at your own risk and assume full responsibility for your fasting decisions.

4. Exercise Disclaimer and Assumption of Risk

Exercise carries an inherent risk of injury, including muscle strain, joint injury, dropped weights, falls, cardiovascular events, and in rare cases, serious or fatal injury. The workout tracking features and AI-generated workout suggestions (exercise selection, sets, reps, suggested weights) are general informational tools. They are not reviewed by a certified personal trainer or physical therapist, do not supervise your form, do not detect when you are fatigued or injured, and do not adapt in real time. The app's automated progression adjusts targets based on your reported feedback only.

You acknowledge and accept full responsibility for your safety during exercise. If you are new to lifting, returning from injury, or attempting a new movement, work with a qualified trainer or coach to learn correct form. Stop immediately and seek medical attention if you experience chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, sharp joint pain, numbness, tingling, or any other warning sign during or after exercise. By using the workout features, you assume the inherent risks of physical activity. See Terms of Use §8 for the assumption-of-risk and waiver terms.

5. AI Suggestions Are Not Medical or Dietetic Advice

Spot, our in-app AI assistant, can generate meal suggestions, recipes, workout plans, daily briefings, photo macro estimates, and conversational coaching. AI outputs are produced by a generative AI model and are not reviewed by a physician, registered dietitian, nutritionist, food-safety professional, or certified trainer. AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, out of date, or unsuitable for you, and may include incorrect macros, calories, or ingredient assumptions. AI outputs are for general informational purposes only.

If you have food allergies, sensitivities, intolerances, or religious or medical dietary restrictions, you must independently verify all ingredients and preparation steps before consuming any AI-suggested meal. AI suggestions may not account for cross-contamination, formulation changes, regional ingredient differences, or incomplete database entries. Allergens, including but not limited to peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, eggs, soy, wheat, gluten, fish, and shellfish, may be present, mislabeled, or omitted from any AI output.

6. Nutritional Data Accuracy

Nutritional information in the app comes from data you enter, public food databases (Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central), and AI-estimated values. Public databases are crowd-maintained or government-maintained and may contain errors, outdated entries, or formulation changes. AI macro estimation from photos is approximate and may be wrong. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any nutritional data. Always verify nutritional information directly from product packaging or other official sources when accuracy matters for a medical reason.

7. Disordered Eating & Mental Health Resources

Calorie counting, macro tracking, and weight tracking can be triggering for people with a history of disordered eating, body dysmorphia, or compulsive exercise. If tracking is harming your relationship with food, your body, or your mental health, stop using the app and seek help.
